10 Obscure Horror Films You Need To See This Halloween

With Halloween on the horizon, it's the time of year for Hollywood horrors. Films that get all of the limelight, and usually all of the critics and acclaim. Yet are they worth our time? In recent years we have been introduced to a couple of excellent horror films in terms of Insidious, and Paranormal Activity. The latter, however, in striving to build up a franchise has struggled intensely to deliver what the first film did so well. After you have seen the first one, you know what to expect. Yet still, people buy into it, and forget or ignore films that may be worth more of their attention. This may suggest that the horror flicks that only make it to a select few screens, or in most cases, straight to dvd, are not worth giving your time of day to. This is where you would be wrong. Having spent the past few weeks on a horror film binge, I was surprised to find myself a few lesser well known horror films that you should put on your list for a Halloween movie night.

10. Fritt Vilt

Before being massacred by Hollywood and translated into English as 'Cold Prey', this Norwegian slasher flick is centred around five friends who travel to the Norwegian mountains for a weekend of snowboarding. Stopping off in a secluded ski spot, one of the group breaks his leg whilst boarding. Of course, as in every good horror film, at this point it is beginning to get dark, and with a broken man in their mist, the friends attempt to find shelter and stumble upon an abandoned ski lodge. As the evenings wears on, it becomes apparent to the friends that it may not be as abandoned as they thought, and terror ensues as they discover the lodge's other inhabitant is determined to see them dead.
