10 Predictions About The Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe

Ten dollars says a 'Wolfman goes to Hollywood' film is on the horizon

Before Marvel made box office history by creating a shared cinematic universe for its most iconic characters to inhabit, Universal did it first in the 1940€™s with its crossover Monsters features. First, Frankenstein met the Wolf Man, then Dracula got in on the action in House of Frankenstein; eventually, even comedy duo Abbott and Costello did battle with the Universal horror icons. Back in the 40's, audiences considered the Universal Monsters crossover films nothing more than B movie silliness. In today€™s cinematic landscape, shared universes do serious business and Universal wants its own piece of the pie. Now that Marvel and DC have laid the groundwork for characters to inhabit the same fictional world across feature films, Universal is looking to reboot its Monsters franchise for modern audiences. Universal recently announced that Dracula Untold will be the inaugural entry of the Monsters shared cinematic universe. Plans for a Mummy reboot are in the works and producer/screenwriter Roberto Orci has been tapped to shepherd the new wave of Monsters movies into multiplexes worldwide. It seems history is repeating itself. Given what we€™ve seen from Universal€™s Monsters franchise in the past, and modern cinematic shared universes, here are ten predictions we have for how the Monsters franchise will unfold.
