10 Reasons The Force Awakens Is A Terrible Star Wars Title

The fail is strong in this one...

Ever since the newly confirmed, official title of Star Wars Episode VII was announced, the title - The Force Awakens - has been torn apart by fans and critics on social media. Twitter alone practically had a field day poking fun at what is, frankly, a rather pedestrian moniker for a franchise hoping to erase the bad taste left in many fans' mouths by the prequel trilogy. Mundane is the first word that comes to mind in describing The Force Awakens. It's not a riveting title, does little to tell us where the franchise is going, and frankly, offers some puzzling questions that are more silly than relevant - such as, can the Force actually go to sleep? Wind up in a slumber? It's not a person, after all. It's supposedly all around us, at least in the world of the films, the expanded universe, and so on. Maybe the Force just needed a pick-me-up? A cup of java or two, to get the caffeine going? In any event, regardless of the outcome of the film, early reaction to the new title has been blasé at best. It certainly hasn't whipped fans into a frenzy the way the title of Episode I did. Then again, don't judge a book, or film, by it's cover - and certainly not by its title. While we all pondered what the Phantom Menace was prior to the film's release, afterwards we just wanted to forget the entire affair (with, perhaps, the exception of Darth Maul, who was pretty cool). The Force Awakens doesn't hit theatres for a while, but here are ten reasons it's a terrible title.
