10 Reasons Jurassic World Is The Best Sequel In The Franchise

You can finally forget the missteps of Jurassic Park III.

Jurassic Park was a self-contained masterpiece which did not require a sequel, but with it's massive success and such rich material, it's easy to see why Universal wanted to have another bite of the apple. The Lost World was a decent film, but a predictable step backwards in terms of plot and character. Jurassic Park III however was a total stinker in every regard. The characters, save Alan Grant, were extremely difficult to get behind and the whole thing played out like a dozen middling action scenes stitched together in great haste. Both were responsible for some unforgivably stupid moments and the sense of fun and good will from the original was eroded away. Jurassic World has been 10 years in the making, pushed back due to a variety of issues, but not helped by the lingering failure of the second sequel. Fans demanded the next sequel restore some pride to the franchise, so pressure was high. Luckily, Jurassic World delivers. Finally you see the park as it was intended by John Hammond and even get to stick around and watch for a bit before everything goes badly wrong! This film finally provides the original with the popcorn-crunching follow up it deserved. While the bar was pretty low, this comfortably transcends the previous movies and at times tramples all over them.
