10 Romantic Lead Characters Who Were Actually Major Douches

edwardcullen There's a surprising number of movies where the person that we're supposed to root for ends up actually being a grade A d-bag. The filmmakers are thinking that you're going to swoon and sigh, but if you actually give it any thought, you end up coming to the conclusion that this jerk has no business getting the girl/job/life that he wants. In a lot of cases, they've done something so horrible or obnoxious during the film that it's hard for the audiences to forgive them enough to make the ending, where everything comes together for them wrapped in a neat little bow, at all satisfying. It makes it difficult to sympathize with or appreciate their co-star, who is clearly a moron for putting up with this terrible human being. We've all met that person in real life, right? The one we meet and we're like, "How does this guy have friends?" Well, this is the Hollywood version, so he's all that plus handsome with a nice car. By the way, I'm apologizing beforehand for the potential feminist rant that will most likely ensue. Warning you ahead of time.

10. Zack - She's All That

shes_all_that_3 I'm gonna say here and say it loud: any guy who thinks he's so cool that he makes a bet that he can turn an ugly girl into prom queen just by gracing her with his glorious man presence is a douchebag. End of story. There is literally nothing else that I need to say. But I will anyway. He takes this cool, independent girl and drags her into his high school drama that she was perfectly happy not being a part of. He makes her feel like she's not good enough or pretty enough when she's just being herself. (Which, side note, is the most ridiculous thing ever because it's Rachel Lee Cook who could be covered from head to toe in horse manure and still look good.) He forces her into situations where people are openly cruel to her, and then provides little to no backup. Good job, buddy.
