2013 was a pretty unbelievable year for cinema, we had apocalypses cancelled, a cast of comedy actors playing themselves as they tried to survive the end of the world, some awesome and unexpected post-credit cameos, and one of the most visually arresting sci-fi films ever put on the screen, among countless others. There's a lot to be said for a film that doesn't merely make us feel pleasure, but truly, deeply satisfies us, delivering an experience that defies expectation and touches on something unexpected, whether it's in the dramatic or comedic arena. This satisfaction can come in a number of forms, but the end result was always the same: an unforgettable night at the movies.
