In a world where trailers are the highlight of the Super Bowl and video content has countless channels to exploit, fans are seeing more of the latest blockbuster releases before they hit cinemas than ever before.

From TV spots to viral teasers, studios are bombarding us with media, and thanks to the steady growth of social media and internet message boards, the movie loving masses have places to dissect and pore over the spoilers.

Then we have the set leaks, inside scoops and spoilerific fan expo panels to add the information overload, and between all of this, it's nothing short of a miracle when a film makes it to the big screen with all of its secrets intact.

Needless to say, it's becoming far easier to form on-the-money theories and astute predictions about upcoming releases thanks to the metric tonne of info cinema-goers are fed long before they arrive at the ticket office.

It also helps that virtually every modern blockbuster is either based on a comic book or part of a long-running series. When there is established lore to delve into, plot predictions are that much easier to formulate.

Most of the biggest blockbusters on the horizon have already been spoiled to death by know-it-all Redditors, but here are a bunch of curveballs you can expect to be thrown your way in the not-too-distant future.

10. Thanos Defeats The Avengers - Infinity War

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has generally been an upbeat place - if you'll excuse the occasional civil war - since its inception in 2008, but the days of good triumphing over evil look like they're coming to an end.

Next year's Avengers: Infinity War will see the titular superhero team and their allies join forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to take on the all-powerful alien-god Thanos, and there's evidence to suggest that won't go too well for them.

The Mad Titan is hellbent on locating all six Infinity Stones, and once they're united in his gauntlet, he will possess the power to remake the universe however he sees fit, and even a hero roster as overstuffed as Infinity War's won't be able to stop him.

Promo images from the movie show Thanos with all of the gems lined up in his fancy glove, which suggests he does indeed get his hands on them, so it would be folly to bet against him with that kind of power at his disposal.

Adding further credence to the victorious Mad Titan theory, Marvel Studios is yet to reveal its roadmap for the phase of movies beyond Infinity War and the as-yet untitled Avengers 4, but it has confirmed that "big changes" are coming.

If Thanos gets his mitts on every Infinity Stone, "big changes" is putting it lightly.
