10 Terrible Films You Won't Believe Won Oscars

Year after year, we complain about the Academy Awards for various reasons. There may have been a movie that undeservedly won Best Picture or an actor that winds up winning an Oscar because of their popularity and not for the merit of their performance. We have these conversations all the time, especially around this time of the year. In today's world, where social media too often dictates the conversation, it's almost better to lose. The more attention a movie gets, the more backlash it receives. It's inevitable. While these people who constantly bicker back and forth about the Oscars may have legitimate reasons for doing so, it may be important to offer a little perspective on the matter. Whether it's Dances With Wolves winning over Goodfellas, Brokeback Mountain winning over Crash----no matter how much you may have disliked the films that received such Oscar glory, one thing remains true: they are way better than THESE films that wound up winning an Oscar. This list features ten films that, no matter what, are allowed to call themselves "Oscar winners." No matter how terrible each of these films are, they did not go home empty-handed on Oscar night. Hopefully, by perusing this list, it will cause you to think twice before launching into another petty argument. Sure, there have been many "good" films that have won over "great" films, but the movies on this list are just plain bad. So how did they become Oscar winners? It may seem inconceivable until you realize that it is possible for a movie to be good at one thing and be terrible at everything else. Some of these movies earned their praise by being outstanding in a specific technical category, despite the overall product being awful. Nevertheless, their awards success is still hard to believe.
