11 Awesome Actors Who Broke Into Hollywood Late
11. Alan Rickman
Alan Rickman actually had an extensive stint in theatre for years before he became a venerated Hollywood icon, even being nominated for a Tony Award in 1987, the very year before he earned his breakthrough movie role.
At the age of 42, Rickman appeared in his first ever theatrical release, Die Hard, as the instantly iconic villain Hans Gruber.
The film of course became an immediate action classic and arguably remains Rickman's signature role, even as he went on to endear himself to younger generations of viewers with his superb performance as Snape in the Harry Potter franchise.
Rickman sadly passed away in 2016 aged 69, but he certainly made fantastic use of the 25+ years he spent in Hollywood, and he'll forever remain one of the best actors to never even be nominated for an Oscar.
