11 Greatest Comic Book Movie Moments Of 2014

Death, dancing trees and a hyperactive teenager. It's like Christmas all over again.

To say 2014 was the year of the comic book movie would be something of a disservice: the genre is no longer a gimmick, and while the end of year box office figures suggest that adoration for superheroes has reached its pinnacle there is considerably more to come between now and 2020. But in terms of hype, financial muscle and blockbuster movie making, there were few genres that could compete with the almighty power wielded by Earth's mightiest heroes. While Star Wars: The Force Awakens took up a good chunk of the news once information started to trickle through, comic book movie news is an industry in its own right, and a force of nature once excitement starts to build. So while the movies themselves could have dominated the best moments of the year, hype generation is such an important aspect of the industry that films that haven't even started shooting can force their way into contention through announcement alone. It was a good year for comic book movie fans. Hell, it was a great year. And with 2015 now kicked off and the impending release of four more titles (including the unknown quantity that is Kingsman) it's a good time to reflect on the moments that made it so great. Somewhat inevitably, there is no mention of 300: Rise Of An Empire here, though it of course qualifies in generic terms: it just wasn't very good. So don't hold your breath.
