12 Best Old School Hollywood Feuds

Classic feuds and petty squabbles from Tinseltown of yesteryear.

Given the excess of celebrity quarrels today, which seem to practically happen on a day to day basis thanks to Twitter, you’d think the likes of Kanye and Taylor Swift (or whoever the hell it is that’s currently making a tw*t of themselves via social media fisticuffs) invented the celebrity feud.

You’d be wrong. Publicly aired clashes of the ego have always been a thing and inter-star squabbling actually dates back to the dawn of celebrity in the early 20th century. And if you think that things get vicious on Twitter today, you’ve clearly yet to witness the ferocious pettiness and brutal putdown skills of the sharp-tongued, old-timer celebrities of yesteryear.

From on-set couples whose onscreen love definitely didn’t extend behind the scenes and feuding celebrity siblings, to bitter rivalries reportedly rooted in failed same-sex (shock! horror!) love affairs, we bring to you the very juiciest and most notorious of old school Hollywood celebrity beef.

12. Anthony Daniels Vs. Kenny Baker

As droid duo C-3PO and R2-D2, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker gave us one of the most iconic pairings cinema screens have ever seen, starring together in all of the seven Star Wars films that have been released so far.

On-screen the articulate android and bleeping bot may have bickered constantly but it was obvious that beneath the petty squabbling the pair were firm friends. Unfortunately, that camaraderie didn’t carry over behind the scenes.

Since they first starred together in Star Wars back in 1977 the two have made several barbed comments about each other in various interviews with Baker blaming his co-star’s awkward, rude and snobbish behaviour towards him and other cast members as the root of their feud while Daniels once said of Baker’s most famous role, “He might as well be a bucket”.

Sadly, Baker died last year so any chance of burying the hatchet via The Last Jedi never came to be.
