You always need to suspend your disbelief a fair bit during a comic book movie. Sometimes, though, you have to come to terms with more than just a few wacky superpowers. Every now and then, you need to learn to stomach some seriously super-sized stupidity as well.
The heightened reality of superhero films has always lent itself to silly characters, baffling decisions and infuriatingly dumb moments. Super stupidity can come from any direction from the superheroes, their supervillain enemies or even their supporting cast of characters.
This isnt a new thing, either. Even in the days of Michael Keaton and Christopher Reeve, the superhero cinematic landscape has always contained a few goofball characters, often for reasons of comic relief or shoehorned exposition. This has become something of a tradition, with low IQs now considered commonplace in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the X-Men movies and the Nolan Batman films.
Some stupid characters from comic book movies are bearable. Others really arent.
