12 Huge Movies That Deadpool Destroyed At The Box Office

The Merc with a fat stack of cash...

Though many had faith in audiences to not turn Deadpool into another R-rated flop like Dredd, few could have anticipated that the film would do so well it ended up breaking a string of box office records, A feat made all the more impressive when you consider it wasn't released in price-boosting 3D. Deadpool recently crossed the $700 million mark and is still chugging along nicely, taking over more huge movies with each passing day. Curiously, X-Men: Days of Future Past will soon enough be on the chopping block, a significant milestone, as it would make Deadpool more financially successful than any single X-Men movie, which is truly tough to believe. So, as Deadpool continues to cement its destiny as one of recent cinema's big, surprise success stories, it's time to consider the huge movies from the last few years that the adult superhero flick has defeated at the box office. Be they kids' movies, rival superhero flicks or simply big-budget blockbusters, here are 12 huge movies that Deadpool destroyed at the box office...

12. Ant-Man

Box Office: $519.3 million Though to date Deadpool has in fact out-grossed all but four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's movies, Ant-Man is a particularly compelling point of comparison. Because, much like Deadpool, it's an extremely weird comic book film, albeit one coming from the extremely popular MCU and benefiting from a family-friendly PG-13 rating. It speaks to how much of a niche character Ant-Man still is that his decent if underwhelming box office haul has been outstripped by Deadpool by over $200 million. While few were expecting Ant-Man to pull Iron Man 3 or even Guardians of the Galaxy numbers, would anyone have predicted an R-rated Deadpool movie to not only beat it at the box office, but summarily destroy it?
