As anyone who even remotely follows Hollywood knows, new movie sequels are announced practically every day, ranging from the totally expected to the shockingly optimistic.
On one hand, nobody's surprised that Pokémon: Detective Pikachu already has a sequel in the works, but on the other, does anyone really expect the long-gestating follow-up to Edge of Tomorrow to actually get made?
Elsewhere, some movie sequels are announced and fly quietly under the radar, even as principal photography is completed and the release grows nearer.
Each of these 12 movies, then, are upcoming sequels you probably didn't know were actually getting made, either due to the soft box office of the previous film, the surreptitious nature of their production or the sheer amount of time that's passed since the release of the last movie.
But beyond all of the maybes and the rumours, the fact that these projects are actually happening is pretty damn close to miraculous.
It would've surprised nobody if these films were quietly scrapped, and yet, production appears to be ramping up (if it hasn't already)...
