It's Christmas! Everybody's busy getting drunk and devouring their own weight in food, such that there's no better time to veg out in front of the TV with a classic Christmas film, like It's A Wonderful Life, Home Alone, Gremlins, A Miracle on 34th Street and so on. The list is endless. But isn't it a bit trite to just watch the same, predictable holiday movies ever year?

Sure, they're classics, but even the best movie can eventually get worn out if watched routinely enough, and as such, why not seek out something a little...different this Christmas? There are so many brilliantly unconventional, left-field Christmas films out there, from affecting dramas to high-octane action films, that it would be a shame to just box yourself into the most blatant Yuletide fare available.

While these films perhaps don't wear the season on their sleeves as excitedly as the films most commonly watched around this time of the year, they're no less valid as heartfelt, hilarious movies that completely evoke the mood of the time.

Whether defined by an iconic snow scene, or perhaps reminding everyone that even drug dealers love Christmas, or maybe even teaching an important life lesson in an unexpected way, here are 13 awesome movies you forgot were Christmas movies...
