Good grief.

It goes without saying that awesome costumes are a vital part of any great superhero movie, and while most decent comic book films can survive with merely acceptable designs, sometimes the filmmakers get things so wrong it helps tank the entire film.

Whether overly silly-looking, not remotely comic-accurate or just straight-up butt-ugly, these 15 superhero costumes linger in the mind as the most outrageously misguided and hilariously awful.

15. Juggernaut (X-Men: The Last Stand)

Even if you ignore the absurdity of casting Vinnie Jones in the role and that infamous one-liner, Juggernaut's fundamental design in X-Men: The Last Stand is just a bit of a joke.

While it's somewhat understandable that Juggy's bright red costume from the comics was reworked into something more functional and "realistic", giving him a goofy, cross-hatched leather number did the character no favours at all.

Jones fared a little better when in the actual Juggernaut armour, but still looked unmistakably daft, and the helmet - the important part of the costume, really - just looked like any old helmet. The fact he removed it so much throughout the film sure didn't help either.
