One common thing that film buffs everywhere seem to share is that almost all of us like you to know that we're film buffs - we want you to understand the extent that we've gone to (and the man hours we've put in) that have led to us becoming experts in the field of motion pictures; the thousands of movies that we've tirelessly poured over in order to build our immense knowledge. Despite their reputations for being quiet and lowly, though, there are very few film buffs who will sit quietly whilst some loudmouth down the pub triumphantly declares that "Steven Spielberg directed Star Wars." The classic film buff response might begin with something along the lines of: "Actually, you'll find that..." - a sort of trademark cry for movie gurus everywhere, and one that will presumably result in vacant stares and the mass shoutings of words like: "nerd!" Because - let's face it - film buffs take film incredibly seriously. To such an extent, in fact, that you have to be careful about what you say around us, 'less you want us think of you as some sordid creature who's just crawled out of the primordial sludge.
