20 Actors You Totally Forgot Were In Comic Book Movies
Before there was Ron Swanson, there was... Burt Shlubb?
Comic book properties are more popular than ever nowadays. Audiences are lapping up all sorts of comic adaptations on the big screen and small, whether it's the latest superhero team-up seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the dark vigilante justice of Daredevil, the adventures of Arrow and The Flash or the ongoing survival tale of Rick Grimes and company on The Walking Dead.
Comics from DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, IDW and more have been the source of many film adaptations for years, with some still standing the test of time and others not so much. For many actors, appearances in comic book films were a part of their early careers, allowing them to cut their teeth before they ever became truly famous. For others, their established careers meant that their roles were easily forgotten, often due to the films themselves hardly being a worthwhile credit in their filmography.
With that in mind, let's take a look at 20 actors who you definitely recognize that you may have forgotten were in specific comic book films, perhaps due to the passage of time or because the films themselves were forgettable.
As such, this list is intended for those who haven't seen these films in recent years and may be surprised to remember or even learn for the first time that these actors were in them at all...
20. Norman Reedus
The Movie: Blade II (2002)
Who He Played: Scud, Blade's weapons designer and tech guy who was secretly a familiar -- that is, a human who had pledged loyalty to a vampire house. After betraying Blade, it was revealed that the Daywalker had known all along. He armed a bomb in Scud's hand the familiar had believed to be a dud, which exploded and killed him.
Why You Forgot: Between his cult fame as Murphy MacManus in The Boondock Saints and his ongoing role as Daryl Dixon in the ratings juggernaut that is The Walking Dead, Reedus has become both a recognizable face and a household name for many people. He's appeared in a number of films over the last two decades, but it's pretty clear that those two roles are far and away his most popular.
