20 Best Movie Performances Of 2017

10. Brooklyn Prince - The Florida Project

Destined to go down in cinema history as one of the most stunningly authentic child performances of the century is Brooklyn Prince's alternately hilarious and heartbreaking work as six-year-old Moonee, who lives an impoverished life with her family in a motel overlooking Disney World.

Though a lot of child actors tend to try too hard with their acting and come off as creepily precocious, there's not a moment of artifice in Prince's naturalistic performance, which both celebrates the playful freedom of youth and the agonising lack of control that children have to better their own circumstances.

In an ideal world, Prince would end up an Oscar nominee, and though it probably won't happen, she gives without a doubt one of the year's best performances regardless of age.
