20 Greatest Movie Psychos Of All Time

American Psycho Where would we be without movie psychos to give us the chills? They have been entertaining us for over 100 years on the silver screen, effusing that dark charisma that makes audiences immediately and irresistibly drawn to megalomaniacs Horror is the genre where the highest amount of film psychos are situated - Leatherface, Freddy Kruger, Jason etc. but it would be a bit boring if I made this list all about horror movie psychos - it would just be 20 Horror Bad Guys. Big deal. Psychos lurk everywhere - from dramas to war films. They are both male and female. Some are mentally ill, some are just bad to the bone. What characterises them all is a distaste for humanity, belief they are totally right in their course of action, egocentricity, lack of remorse, impulsivity, superficial charm and recourse to violent or illegal acts. Some guys eh? I have compiled below a list of 20 screen psychos to shock, appall and make you shudder at their psycho behaviour. Just thank God you were born without the psycho gene and pray that you don't cross their paths.

20. Mickey & Mallory - Natural Born Killers (1994)

natural born killers Mickey and Mallory are the trigger happy spree killers from the film Natural Born Killers who become famous for their bloody path of violence and develop into cult heroes. The film is very, very violent as the pair wage war with their murderous antics. Mickey and Mallory share the bond of being abused kids. Mickey was abused by both parents and watched his father commit suicide when he was 10. Mallory was sexually, physically, emotionally and verbally abused by her father. Mickey has developed into a very proficient killer and has a wide range of methods for killing people - including breaking their necks with his bare hands. Mallory is devoted to and obsessed with Mickey. She regales him with tales of a fantasy life to which he answers "That's poetry". Mallory is the more vicious of the two - a cold blooded psycho who will kill anyone who stands in her way. Definitely the best psycho gruesome twosome the cinema has seen.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
