20 Hidden Sci-Fi Movie Gems To Watch On Netflix

17. Storage 24

Who knew Mickey from Doctor Who would turn out to be such a polymath? Besides starring as Billie Piper€™s put-upon boyfriend in the revived sci-fi show and a recurring role in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, Noel Clarke has also written, directed and starred in more films than you probably thought the severely under-funded UK Film Council could manage to support. Besides the more well-known two-handed of Kidulthood and Adulthood (the first of which Clarke wrote, the second he directed) and robbery caper 4.3.2.1, in 2012 Clarke also wrote, produced, and starred in an effective, low-budget science fiction thriller called Storage 24 that nobody managed to see. But it had Mickey from Doctor Who in it! A team of ragtag survivors with significant emotional baggage - one of them was going to confront another for dumping him, and it turns out she was cheating on him with somebody else who winds up in their group - struggle to survive a night trapped in a locked facility with a killer alien monster on the loose. Not hugely original, but effectively done.
