20 Movie Remakes You Didn’t Know Were In The Works

Because creativity is dead.

Originality is pretty much dead in Hollywood, with the vast majority of major movies being either sequels, remakes, reboots, reimaginings or adaptations of existing material. How often do we get, say, an Inception, or a Get Out?

It all boils down to studio executives wanting to play things safe and rest on bankable properties which can generate easy profits. Why take a gamble on something daring nobody's heard of, when you can just endlessly remake brand names for a whole new generation?

It's cynical but it works, hence why there are more remakes in production now than anyone can ever keep track of. These 20 remakes, for instance, all in some form of development, have probably passed you by, and yet they'll all likely be on cinema screens over the next few years.

Many of them will succeed at the box office thanks to that ever-important brand identity, but how many of them will actually be any good? That's a little tougher to say.

While some of them could go above and beyond expectations, many will simply settle for safely rehashing whatever worked last time...
