22 Problems Only Anime Fans Understand

No one understands our pain.

There once was a time when anime was limited to its home country of Japan. Up until the 90s, if you lived outside Japan, you had to go to great lengths to keep up with your favorite series, often relying on bootlegs and fansubs to satiate your appetite. But thanks to the advent of the internet, interest in anime surged as generations of people had the privilege of growing up with it. Now anime is firmly entrenched as a viable means of entertainment all around the world, and every year the audience continues to grow. However, it is by no means mainstream. Anime is unique to the culture of Japan. Naturally it is reflective of many of the customs of that country. It is more than just animation; it is a style, and your acceptance of that style depends on your openness to unfamiliar cultures. As a result, you either like it or you don't, and those that like it eat it up like one of Brock's delicious jelly filled donuts. Nothing beats 'em. Naturally, anyone who consumes anime on a regular basis knows that doing so can lead to some interesting issues. Being a fan of anything inevitably leads to problems unique to that fandom, and anime is no different. Ranging from the serious to the silly, these are issues that anyone who doesn't watch anime just won't understand; the problems we face at one time or another in our unifying quest to watch the latest and greatest anime. These are some of the problems that only anime fans will understand.

22. The Pain Of Not Owning A Giant Robot

Giant robots are awesome; they always have been and always will be. This is an indisputable fact. So you can forgive us for dreaming of owning our own giant robot with which to battle it out against our enemies. Unfortunately they still remain solely in the realm of fiction. Thankfully there are plenty of great anime series to satiate our appetite for all things mecha.

21. Waiting For The Next Season Of Attack On Titan

Attack On Titan Gif Attack on Titan was a breakout hit in 2013 thanks to its unique world, high energy drama, and disturbingly designed enemy. As of right now there have only been 25 episodes, and despite being a huge success internationally there has been no formal announcement of when the next batch of episodes will air. Apparently they are waiting for the manga to reach a certain point, but still... that doesn't make the wait any less agonizing.
