Without a doubt, actors are the lifeblood that runs through Hollywood. They front projects, perform the projects and at one point in time, they were even used to sell the projects. But somewhere along the line things changed. Suddenly, the film industry relied less on the prowess of its stars and instead began making its money off recycled blockbusters or returning franchises. Thus, as long as there was an audience for these movies, it didn’t matter who starred in them.

However, while this has been the norm for quite some time now, things are slowly beginning to change once more — and the people responsible for this are the next generation of stars. The film and television industry is currently overflowing with an abundance of young actors making a name for themselves, impressing audiences with compelling performances and memorable characters.

Looking back through history, it's hard to think of a time when there was as much rising talent in Hollywood as right now, and no matter how much the landscape changes in the next decade, these young ladies and gentlemen will be around for quite a long time to come — highlighting the importance of strong performances and reminding everyone what Hollywood is really about.

With that in mind, let's get to know this talent a little better and take a look at the 27 most promising young stars in Hollywood right now.

Known for: The Flash, Love, Simon, The Divergent Series: Insurgent,

In a rather short space of time, Keiynan Lonsdale has managed to make an impression on both cinema and TV audiences. The young actor got his first big break on Australian series Dance Academy and, upon the show's completion, he landed a supporting role in American blockbuster The Divergent Series: Insurgent, as well as a full-time role on The CW's The Flash.

As Wally West/Kid Flash, Lonsdale became the first actor to bring the beloved comic book character to life on the small screen and, after showing viewers what he could do, he joined spin-off show DC's Legends of Tomorrow as a series regular. Moreover, he recently received a lot of attention for his strong supporting performance in big-screen YA adaptation Love, Simon.

Now that he's taking a step back from his regular job in The CW's Arrowverse, and has another film role on the horizon (in the upcoming Weetzie Bat adaptation), this transition from TV to film could become a permanent one.
