5. Rosa Klebb
Lotte Lenya was a fantastic choice to play one of the few truly menacing female characters in the entire Bond history, as fine a match for Bond as any of her male counterparts. Donning a steel shoe-knife thats tipped with poison and a whip, Rosa Klebb apparently got a bit of a kick out of torture after having defected to SPECTRE, tasked with stealing a decoding machine that would make the British government look more than a little red-faced. Its Lenyas performance that like with many of the best Bond villains really makes this one work; the idea of a pint-sized woman being a threat to Bond could have been silly and unconvincing with the wrong actress, but Lenya is positively intimidating in the role. We see her barking orders at her male subordinates and its thoroughly convincing; she is a true Ian Fleming villain in every sense of the phrase.
