Ever since Bryan Singer’s X-Men struck gold at the box office, Hollywood has been buying up every single interesting comic book property trying to create the next Spider-Man or Batman franchise. Since the year 2000, there have been numerous comic book films that have major blockbusters such as the aforementioned X-Men franchise, Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films. But for every great adaptation like Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass, there is a terrible one like Jimmy Hayward’s Jonah Hex.
Why is it that some of these comic book films turn out great, while other ones turn out to be horrific? Most people will say it’s because of the writing, or the directing style, or even the actors playing the titular role. These reasons can all be true, but I believe that some comic books were not supposed to be constrained to a two-hour movie. Some comic book characters that have all ready been adapted to the big screen should have new life on the small screen. These comic book properties need to be reimagined for television. If The CW’s Arrow has showed us, there can be superheroes on TV; they just need to be treated properly.
Here is a list of five comic books that could have more success as a television series then a film franchise.

I am with you on Deadpool, nice list..
Very nice list Al.
I noticed that there is only 1 DC property to 4 Marvel properties and though there should be more DC in there. Then I realised that DC has made so few films. Damn you WB/DC!
Thanks Tristan. I noticed that too, but you have to realize that DC/Warner Bros have already taken two of there best properties and made successful television shows with them. They are constantly trying to find new comics to adapt to tv. They have tried twice to brig Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, and they are even making a Booster Gold series. Smallville and Arrow have paved the way for comics to be on tv. Hopefully ABC’s Shield is a success and Marvel will realize they need to make more shows.
Agreed.
Still it has been 45 years since we had a live action Batman TV show. Imagine how good a noir Batman show could be with multiple episode story archs like The Long Halloween and Dark Victory.
I am looking forward to SHIELD and I hope that it does link in with a broader Marvel universe, maybe incorporating Daredevil and The Punisher.
Hulk is an interesting one, do you think Hulk has better chances on TV?
I think Heroes for hire would make a great television show also.
I’m with you man , Daredevil has a very very nice crossovers and Deadpool and Punisher has ones to , soo it will be great
