2. A View To a Kill
Coming in at number 2, another Roger Moore movie, A View To a Kill. Alright, ALRIGHT, we can hear the screaming from all of you. Please hold off the criticisms until we're done. And put those torches down! Thank you. As much as there is to hate about this movie, there are still a few positives. Most people just think the Duran Duran song is all there is to appreciate, but let's focus on three others. For one, Christopher Walken doesn't get enough praise for his role. Max Zorin is one of the most diabolical and cold-hearted villains the franchise has seen. He plays a leading microchip businessman who hopes to destroy his only competition, California's Silicon Valley. In the process, he kills another businessman who refuses to go along with his plans, and machine guns nearly all the workers who help him with his plan, going on the old adage "Dead men tell no tales". For another, much of the criticism leveled against this movie is Roger Moore looking too old to play the role, actually discovering that he was older than the mother of Tanya Roberts, his main romantic interest. But watch Octopussy first, then this. He actually looks to be in better shape in this one than in the movie released two years prior. The final silver lining in this film is the climactic scene on board Zorin's airship. A well orchestrated and decently shot action piece that tops off the movie. Bottom line: Bad James Bond movie? Probably. Terrible, and worthy of the hate it receives? Well, probably still yes, but there are enough things to enjoy in it to make it worth at least one viewing.
