5 New Movie Marketing Tools We're Already Tired Of

Won't these infernal marketing tactics just die already?

Character Posters Welcome to the digital age, ladies and gentlemen. As technology advances at an unbelievable pace right before our very eyes, movie studios are desperately trying to find ways to catch up, vying for our already divided attention in order to sell us their latest tent-pole franchise or comic book adaptations. Whilst some of them have found success, others have resorted to wacky - and downright annoying - marketing techniques in order to get the job done. The sad thing is that most of these have become commonplace in today's world, and - in all honesty - are probably working at the associated studios' advantage. That won't stop us from wishing some of these things would go away, though. So may I present you today with 5 new marketing tools that we're already tired of...

5. Character Posters For Every. Single. Character.

This strange phenomenon is becoming more and more prevalent with each passing year, especially with the overabundance of tentpole films. As marketing for a movie kicks into high gear, studios begin releasing "character posters," which are cool for those of us who really love these films and want to collect posters... but do we really need them for every single character in the movie? Who is this even for? Was there any Marvel fan dying for a Thor: The Dark World poster featuring Fandral, for example? Or any Hobbit fans who need a poster for each and every dwarf? Posters featuring the key players in a film - and even the lead characters is one thing - but I seriously don't need to see a poster solely devoted to the Peas-In-A-Pod toy from Toy Story 3.
