7 Fantastic Disney Movies That are Constantly Overlooked

Aladdin. The Little Mermaid. Beauty and the Beast. All great films, all clamoring for top positions on everyone's "Favorite Disney Films" list. Every once in a while, you get a Hercules or a Pocahontas thrown in, but for the most part, everyone's favorites seem to exist around the dubbed classics from Disney's animation studios. But there are plenty of fantastic films that it's probable you saw and loved and just never think about. Disney certainly has a plethora of wonderful movies under its belt, and this list is to highlight some of those great movies that deserve, at the least, a second chance. After all, it's great to be a kid again for an hour or two.

7. The Emperor's New Groove

Hands down the funniest movie from Disney put out, The Emperor's New Groove brought David Spade back to the spotlight in the role he was born to play, threw John Goodman into the role we so love him for, and gave us all a revitalized respect for the likes of Eartha Kitt and Patrick Warburton. Other entries on this list might boast more impressive casts, but none will feature the greatest embodiment of characters like this one. You wouldn't think this is a film overlooked, but it's hardly ever in anyone's top ten, despite the fact that it not only glows with important values and messages, is sensationally humorous, and features glorious, stylized animation; but that it does with Disney does best. It takes a small story, elongates it, and injects that famed Disney magic into it to make it all the more appealing to a mass audience. Don't forget about The Emperor's New Groove, and most certainly don't throw him off of it.

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
