7 Stories That Could Merge The X-Men, Spider-Man & Marvel Cinematic Universes

Live Action Heroes Wouldn't this be a fanboy and fangirl's dream? First of all, let me just say that I'm fully aware that this is very unlikely to ever happen, but it's fun to imagine and it's good to hope! As unlikely as it is, Hugh Jackman and Andrew Garfield have both said they want it to happen - stating that they'd be more than open to the ideas of their Wolverine and Spider-Man characters respectively joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Avengers roster. It would be a tough task for any writer, director or producer to put a movie of this scale together - even if, by some miracle, the respective studios of Marvel/Disney, Fox and Sony were to pull together to make it happen - which further hampers its plausibility. Many people will say that the continuities should never merge anyway, because it would raise questions like "why didn't the X-Men help with the Chitauri invasion" or "why didn't Spider-Man help Hulk against Abomination in Harlem" - but the same questions could be asked about countless comic book storylines in which only certain characters appear to fight against a certain threat, possibly because they had their own battles going on elsewhere, or because it simply wasn't their fight (the same thing could be said about why the other Avengers didn't help Thor in Thor: The Dark World or Tony Stark in Iron Man 3). That said, I've been thinking of storylines from the comic books that could potentially be used as a means to bring the characters from the three franchises together, if indeed it was ever to happen - and that's what this article will be about. Here are seven comic book storylines that could be used to merge the movie universes of the X-Men and Spider-Man with the Marvel Cinematic Universe...
