7 Stupid Retcons That Ruined Famous Movie Franchises

5. Stormtroopers Are Jango Fett Clones - Stars Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones

Yeah, so, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones is a terrible, terrible movie; not only is it the worst Star Wars film, but it's one of the worst movies ever made full stop. It also contains what is some of George Lucas' most awkward retconning; a retcon that not only ruins two characters, but an entire army. Yes: in Attack of the Clones, it turns out that the majority of Stormtroopers are actually clones of Jango Fett, a bounty hunter who is - surprise! - Boba Fett's dad. Even if you try to ignore all the awkward ham-fisting associated with trying to shoehorn this plot strand together (and there is much awkward hamfisting), the fact that George Lucas tried to involve Boba Fett's father in a story that never should have included either of them just made for super painful viewing. It genuinely spoiled Stormtroopers for the masses.
