8 Captain America: Civil War Characters Guaranteed To Disappoint

Don't get your hopes up over Spider-Man.

Captain America: Civil War is going to be a very busy movie, but with the same writers and directors who worked on Captain America: The Winter Soldier back for this movie, it's tough not to have faith in whatever they're going to deliver. However, in a release which is more like Avengers 2.5 than Captain America 3, it's inevitable that some of the fan-favourites appearing aren't going to live up to expectations. Whether it's newly introduced heroes and villains or those making their return to the silver screen for this highly anticipated release, a small handful are guaranteed to disappoint those expecting certain moments from the comics or a particular type of portrayal. Will that be enough to ruin the movie? That remains to be seen, but things aren't looking good for this lot, and that's without a doubt going to have a major impact on how much everyone - fans and non-fans alike - enjoy this big screen adaptation of Civil War. While Marvel Studios is undeniably great, they've dropped the ball on a fair few heroes and villains over the years (here's looking at you Mandarin), and this movie may just have the longest list of disappointments to date.

8. The Winter Soldier

In the comic books, The Winter Soldier regained his memories when Captain America used the Cosmic Cube (better known as the Tesseract in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) to restore them, but the big screen version was clearly still confused and unsure of his past at the end of 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Ideally, the character needed to have another movie dedicated to telling his story, but it appears as if he's going get over those HYDRA brainwashing sessions very quickly in Civil War as he looks to be taking on a fairly minor part in a very big movie. It's frustrating that Marvel will likely gloss over Bucky's struggle to regain his memories by having him essentially show up, get captured by Steve Rogers, and then reveal that he now remembers everything. That's a cop out, but Captain America: Civil War simply doesn't have the time to dedicate a big chuck of is story to Bucky's journey, and while it will no doubt still play a role, this whole thing feels a bit rushed. Another thing which is sure to disappoint is the fact that there's no way this movie ends with Bucky becoming the new Cap. Captain America: The Winter Soldier proved that the current iteration played by Chris Evans has become a box office draw, and with the actor confirming that he's shooting Avengers: Infinity War next year, Sebastian Stan and the fans may have a long time to wait until BuckyCap happens.
