8 Famous Movie Scenes That Were Created By Complete Accident

2. The Fall Of Rohan In The Two Towers Is Cemented...Because Strong Winds Tore Away A Flag

It's not surprising The Lord Of The Rings trilogy is such a well of interesting accidents during shooting, given the extremely lengthy shooting schedule. Once again The Two Towers holds an awesome movie moment that was created by complete accident. As Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Gandalf the White ride towards the then-broken village of Rohan, Eowyn steps out to survey the surrounding lands following a particularly gruesome encounter with Grima Wormtongue. It's a moment in which Eowyn and Rohan can't get much lower, and as she stands outside in the fierce winds, the Rohan flag tears from its pole and sails into the air, landing beside the arriving band of travellers. What's interesting, however, is that the flag ripping off was a complete accident, caused by the strong New Zealand winds during filming. In fact, if you watch Viggo Mortensen's reaction during the scene, you can see that the surprise and slight confusion on his face is very apparent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXvZVdKyj44
