8 Great Characters DC Movies Have Completely Screwed Up

3. Superman

While I wouldn't go so far as to say Zack Snyder "ruined" Superman by having him break General Zod's neck at the end Man of Steel, it was definitely an extreme moment which felt very out of character for this iconic superhero. You could spend all day coming up with reasons why the he felt he had no other choice than to take that action of course, but the simple fact is that it just didn't feel like something Superman should do. However, that was ultimately far from the biggest problem with this take on the character. Almost every other iteration of Superman has become a hero in his teens or certainly by his early 20s. This one spent years hiding his abilities, helping out with the odd disaster now and then (only when he had to it seems), but shying away from his responsibilities because of the baffling lesson Jonathan Kent had taught him years earlier. Him pretty much telling Clark that he should have let those kids die is as bad as the "With Great Power..." line being cut from The Amazing Spider-Man movies, and if Snyder wanted to launch straight into an adventure with a Superman in his 30s, he should have already been Superman, not just getting around to suiting up. The point is, his origin story was completely f*cked up by this movie, and is honestly better off forgotten now.
