8 Great Characters Marvel Movies Have Completely Screwed Up

4. Hank Pym

As an older Hank Pym, Michael Douglas did an admittedly fantastic job, but this approach to the character made for a disappointing way to finally bring the founding Avenger to the big screen. One of the biggest let downs in that superhero ensemble was the fact that Ant-Man and The Wasp were nowhere to be seen, and as good a character as Scott Lang is, to completely gloss over their history in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a major blunder on the studio's part. There are so many great stories which could have been told with them both that we'll now never get to see. Of course, much of that comes down to Marvel waiting on Edgar Wright to make the damn movie, a decision which backfired when they ultimately ended up parting ways with the filmmaker because of creative differences. Had that not been the case, it's entirely possible that the original versions of both Ant-Man and The Wasp could have factored into The Avengers instead of, yawn, Hawkeye and Black Widow. Still, at least Wright's Ant-Man would have reportedly featured Hank Pym becoming the villainous Black Ant and betraying Scott, an interesting nod to his comic book counterpart's psychological issues. As it stands, we instead have an OAP Hank who offered a vague excuse about why he could no longer wear the Ant-Man suit, and while he's still a decent enough character, the missed opportunities with him are heartbreaking.
