8 Ways Jared Leto's Joker Is Already The Worst Version Of The Character

Do you wanna know how he got those tattoos?

Another week, another example of why the ongoing DC shared universe is woefully misguided. At least this time they've mixed things up by throwing doubt on a movie that up until now looked like it could actually be good (which is equally surprising and disappointing). You see, whereas Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice has been a questionable proposition since conception (it is, at heart, the sequel to Man Of Steel), Suicide Squad, the anti-hero team movie coming a few months after the masthead heroes duke it out, has looked to be a beacon of hope for the DC Cinematic Universe. The concept is something new within superhero cinema, David Ayer (the man behind End Of Watch and Fury) is calling the shots and the cast (dull duo of Will Smith and Jai Courtney aside) boasts some real talent; Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and, of course, Jared Leto as the Joker. Leto's casting was a particular point of interest when it was announced late last year. With Heath Ledger's performance still etched in the cultural psyche, the smart/sensible choice would have been to let the character lie for a bit, but in the modern blockbuster landscape of reboots and shared universes that just wasn't going to fly. So, having the singer-turned-Oscar winner take on the role was a good back-up plan, with everyone eager to find out what his take on the Clown Prince of Crime would look like. Well, we now know what that take is. And the result isn't pretty. Here's eight reasons why the new Joker may be the stupidest part of DC movies yet.
