9 Famous Actors In Real Danger Of Becoming Irrelevant

8. Will Smith

For over a decade, Will Smith was virtually untouchable. Fully earning his nickname of 'The King of Summer', throughout the late 90's and early 00's the former Fresh Prince starred in hit movie after hit movie, racking up billions of dollars at the box office and two Academy Award nominations for Best Actor in the process.

However, over the last few years Smith's star power has noticeably been on the wane, with several of his movies earning scathing reviews or tanking at the box office. Sometimes both.

After Earth proved that his name alone wasn't enough to sell a movie, the blatantly awards-baiting Concussion and Collateral Beauty were received tepidly at best, the $750m-grossing Suicide Squad was butchered by both the studio and critics and while Netflix landing Smith to top-line Bright was heralded as a major coup for the streaming service, the project's execution left a lot to be desired.

Incredibly charismatic, blessed with impeccable comic timing and a fantastic dramatic actor under the right circumstances, there is no reason why the 49 year-old can't reclaim his place at the very top of the A-list but to put it bluntly the actor needs to rediscover what made him such a star in the first place or risk a permanent slide into mediocrity.

Ironically, Smith's next role has the potential to do both. Stepping into the massive shoes of Robin Williams as the Genie in Guy Ritchie's live-action remake of Aladdin, the actor could either steal the show with a scene-stealing display of star power or become so distracting as to sink the movie entirely. At this point, it could really go either way.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
