Actors screen-test for SPIDER-MAN, casting close

Half a dozen actors screen-tested for the role on Friday... are we close to crowning a new Peter Parker?

Spider-Man close? Deadline say the following actors, all names we have heard linked with the role before, screen tested on Friday for the Marc Webb-directed reboot that will film later this year. Jamie Bell (Billy Elliott, King Kong) Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Terminator Salvation) Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass, Nowhere Boy) Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson) Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro). It's up in the air if Michael Angerano (Lords of Dogtown) tested, but apparently he is still being considered. Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince) was supposed to screen test but bailed to enroll at drama school at London€™s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Is the guy nuts? I barely have any enthusiasm for a Spider-Man reboot but I do like Anton Yelchin, and seeing him play Peter Parker would probably secure my ticket. I also think Aaron Johnson would make a pretty good Harry Osbourne for the age group they are aiming for. But yeah... the idea of seeing the same origin movie for Spidey that Sam Raimi handled as well as anyone ten years ago, makes me feel angry. This film, opening July 2012, does not have my support.
