Adam McKay Wants To Get Involved With Ant-Man And The Wasp

Pick up the phone, Marvel.

Adam McKay has spoken with Joblo and mentioned that he'd love to get involved with the upcoming Ant-Man sequel, Ant-Man And The Wasp, having previously given the first film's script a polish with Paul Rudd. When asked whether he'd ever thought about doing a superhero movie of his own, McKay responded;
"Oh absolutely. I was weaned on Marvel as a little kid so I€™d do anything for Marvel. I know they€™re talking about Ant-Man 2 so I let Feige and Paul Rudd know, I€™m on deck man, gimme the call because I had so much fun doing the first one."
I felt like McKay's influence (along with Rudd's) really came through on Ant-Man without a) removing too much of Edgar Wright's original input and b) being too McKay-ish. He does have a tendency toward bloat and a lack of propensity towards noticing when a joke isn't funny (see also: The Other Guys, Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby) though, so hopefully he will rein that kind of behaviour in if he finds a spot on the writing team. Whilst Ant-Man And The Wasp is a long way away (2018-long), that isn't gonna stop this hype train leaving the station (and the first station is conjecture-ville). I think it's safe to say that if McKay is interested, Marvel will probably reach out to him. If it ain't broke... McKay definitely knows how to write solid, funny female characters (see also: Anchorman) so I'm intrigued to see where he can take the Wasp as a character... if Feige or Rudd give him a call first, of course. Ant-Man And The Wasp is released on 6 July 2018.
