Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa - Watch The New Trailer Here

Without question one of the most iconic characters in all of comedy, the local radio DJ Alan Partridge returns in his first big-screen outing, Alpha Papa, and you can check out the hilarious new trailer above. Alan's radio station, North Norfolk Digital, ends up being acquired by a swanky new media giant, and this sparks a series of events that causes Alan to help the police in resolving a hostage situation led by one of his disgruntled former colleagues, Pat Farrell (Colm Meaney), who has been let go during the corporate shake-up. Alan will have to use his voice as the ultimate weapon to bring this situation to a close. Though it might seem odd for Alan Partridge to be mixing with guns, from the look of things, Alpha Papa will be going the Hot Fuzz route above all else, satirising the siege genre with Steve Coogan's trademark wit. It certainly doesn't hurt that among those contributing to the script is In The Thick Of It's Armando Iannucci, ensuring that the film is going to have a mix of barbed gags - seemingly including knowing references to how long Partridge has been off the telly - with some crude yet smart jibes to boot. What do you make of the new trailer? Alpha Papa is released in UK cinemas on August 7th.
