6. A Tale Of Two Captains

From the off, the comparisons between Captain America and Captain Marvel are pretty obvious. For starters, they both have 'Captain' in their names - it literally denotes authority (and leadership). Secondly, both were involved in the armed forces, with Steve a member of the OSS during WW2, and Carol a test pilot for the USAF.

Thematically, there's a lot that binds the two characters together. Both, for instance, were underestimated their entire lives until they were gifted with powers, and both of their journeys are directly rooted in the past. They were both also the first of their kind, with Steve effectively the first superhero and Carol the first to wield such immense power.

Yes, both have undergone remarkably different journeys - both in the comics and on the big screen - but they also have a lot in common. Not to the point where they can effectively be swapped for each other, but they both possess the kind of traits that can lead - and have led - the Avengers, as well those that can anchor an entire franchise.

It is apt, then, that the two should cross paths in Endgame. We don't know yet how they'll interact, but judging from what's been depicted on screen already, it wouldn't be disingenuous to assume that the pair will be drawn to each other. There's potential there for a truly affecting back-and-forth, and even with Steve's journey ostensibly at an end, his time spent with Carol could create the series' most pivotal moment yet.
