The Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Characters Who Could Potentially Die (And What It Would Mean)

Ultron Joss Whedon is on a mission to destroy the people you love. And I don't mean that in the same way as Michael Bay, who seems intent on using my childhood as toilet paper. But rather because Whedon is so good at making you love certain characters, putting them through adversity, and then just when you think they're going to have a happy ending, he kills them off like the soulless demon he is. Just look at his track record: in Buffy, we saw Angelus kill Giles' girlfriend, Jenny Calendar and then later torture Giles with her memory just when she had found a way to restore Angel's soul. Later on in the series, he killed Willow's girlfriend Tara just after she and Willow had reconciled, and the series finale saw Anya being sliced in half. Then over in Angel, Doyle sacrificed himself to save Angel and a boat-full of non-violent demons, Fred was transformed into an ancient demon right after her and Wesley got together, and then Wesley himself was killed in the series finale. Plus, don't forget Serenity, where Whedon had the audacity to kill Shepherd Book and even impale Wash! It is a testament to Whedon's skill as a writer and director that he can make us care so much about these characters that we are left absolutely devastated when they meet their end. And it's become something of a trademark for him, so much so that when he read the script for the first Avengers movie which included Coulson's death, he protested, telling Marvel that everyone would blame him for it because that fits his reputation. Whedon has hinted that someone may die in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It's a definite possibility, and here are some characters that could end up on the chopping block.
