It's been a little while now since Avengers: Infinity War was unleashed on the world, but the reverberations are still being felt.

The blockbuster behemoth is on its way to a possible $2bn box-office haul, but bigger than that is its impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The team-up event, billed as the culmination of the entire MCU, has totally changed the game by allowing its villain to win and wiping out a number of heroes.

It's true that things will have to be undone one way or another in Avengers 4, but Infinity War does a lot to set up the future. That begins with Ant-Man and the Wasp, which lands this summer (and is actually set before Infinity War) and then Captain Marvel, which arrives in March 2019 and takes place during the 1990s, with the likes of Nick Fury and Phil Coulson back in action alongside Brie Larson's Carol Danvers.

After that it's Avengers 4, which will represent the true culmination of the MCU as we know it, before Phase 4 (or whatever name it takes) begins. Infinity War packs a lot into its two-and-a-half-hour runtime, and that includes setting in motion the next three movies on the Marvel slate.
