Avengers: Infinity War - Every Death Ranked Worst To Best

Avengers: Infinity War has been out long enough for just about everyone on the planet to have seen it a few times, but fans are still thoroughly shook by its higher-than-expected body count.

Most fans seemed to anticipate that Infinity War would off a few minor characters and then deliver one or two major Avenger deaths - the smart money being on either Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) or Captain America (Chris Evans) - but the Russo brothers instead went in a whole other, more horrifying direction.

While only a scattered few heroes die ahead of act three, by the end of the movie, 21 major characters have died, and while it's clear that a good number of these deaths will be reversed in Avengers 4, that didn't stop them leaving the audience shocked, excited and maybe even a little depressed.

The MCU has a real problem with stakes when it comes to its characters' mortality, and even though the general lack of finality to the death scenes here is undeniable, the Russos and the actors did generally terrific work making it all feel as definite and terrifying as possible.
