Avengers: Infinity War - There Was Almost WAY More Thanos

Probably wouldn't have been a bad thing...

When you think back, Avengers: Infinity War crammed an awful lot of stuff into its run-time, even if it was a long movie. We got several set-pieces, interlocking narrative strands and real character development - particularly for Josh Brolin's Thanos.

And now we know that there was almost even more Thanos, as the character's creator Jim Starlin says that the directors cut 30 minutes of his backstory. He revealed as much at Las Vegas Comic Con, with his comments fitting in with the pre-release comments suggesting that Thanos was very much going to be the main character of Infinity War.

Ultimately, we did get some of Thanos' origin and a brief look at Titan before its fall, but it was very much pushed to the background. Admittedly it didn't compromise our understanding of the character or his motivations, but he was so good that more of the same really wouldn't have been an issue.

Collider say that Marvel Studios could add the footage into an extended cut to release at a later point. A second cinema run would make a lot of sense for the studio, given how lucrative it could be.

So, let's all start a campaign for Marvel to #releasetheThanoscut. See you outside Marvel HQ in your Spider-Man jammies.
