Awful trailer for THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

So it's Keanu Reeves' biggest role in a while and remarkably even for himself he phones it in. There is just no way to defend this. Even though it's not in the same genre I have visions of The Wicker Man remake with every word that comes out of Reeves' mouth.

I'm dumbfounded and shocked that in the age we live in today they have decided against using the "we are destroying the planets with our weapons of mass destruction" theme and instead gone for the eco-disaster plot. It's terrible and quickly strips away the tension and power of the original film. And in any event, why would an alien from another planet be concerned with our eco problems?

This is not The Day The Earth Stood Still. How 20th Century Fox got away with calling it as such is a mystery because the movie is completely different from Robert Wise's classic that it deserves no comparison. I would be less pissed if it was just called something else. Then I wouldn't care. I would still say it looked awful but I would be less annoyed with it. Co-starring Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates, John Cleese, Jaden Smith and Jon Hamm - the movie opens December 12th from director Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose). source - aicn
