Marvel fans might have their sights fixed firmly on Spider-Man: Far From Home, but one of the more exciting things to emerge this year was news of what the studio is planning for Disney+, the House of Mouse's upcoming streaming service. Multiple shows are heading there, with Marvel themselves developing TV spin-offs based on Loki, Scarlet Witch and Vision, and potentially even one centred around Hawkeye and his comics protege, Kate Bishop.

Perhaps the most anticipated of these, however, is Falcon & Winter Soldier. Hopefully set to be retitled, given Sam Wilson's post-Endgame title, the series will centre around Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan's Marvel characters in as of yet unknown story. Courtesy of Deadline, however, we may have an inkling of what may happen.

According to the outlet, Falcon & Winter Soldier will release August 2020 and will be directed by Kari Skogland. Skogland previously helmed episodes of The Americans, Boardwalk Empire and The Punisher, and the fact she's directing each episode in the series gives us a good indication of what Marvel are aiming for with these shows.

Perhaps even more interesting, though, is that Deadline's report also mentions that Emily VanCamp and Daniel Bruhl are set to star too. VanCamp portrayed Sharon Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and its follow up Civil War, while Bruhl played Helmut Zemo in just the latter.

The presence of both characters in the series intimates an espionage angle, but it remains to be seen just how pivotal a role either plays.
