Batman on Film reports that things are already happening in Chicago in preparation for the arrival of Chris Nolan and crew for Batman 3, with Jett hearing that location scouting is already underway…

“[They] have been out and about in Chicago’s Financial District.”

Chicago is of course the home of Gotham in Chris Nolan’s Bat-universe and was heavily used in both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

This news comes on the same-day that The Moving Image reported a further tidbit from a member of Nolan’s who is working on Burke & Hare up in Scotland this week…

I forgot to mention that he also said sets were either being constructed, or will soon be constructed, for the third Batman, with the possibility of shooting toward the end of the year.  He also said that they were coming under budget at the end of The Dark Knight, so they built a whole extra set (possible usage in the third film).

I would say the end of the year might be a little soon for filming but certainly Spring 2011 seems likely for a Summer 2012 or 2013 release.

As I keep saying, Batman 3 is a lot further along than the quiet down time at Warner Bros. would have us believe. It’s 99% likely that the Nolans and David Goyer have written AT LEAST a first draft and are probably fine tuning their story right now, with the villains very much already chosen.

Attention, I would think, from the Batman team will turn on who is going to play The Riddler, Catwoman or The Penguin (I say 2 out of the 3 are likely to be in this next picture) over the coming months. Expect some kind of official Batman 3 announcement to come from Warner Bros. around the time of Inception’s release (16.07.10), to help a difficult movie to market – climb over the $200 million figure.
