Batman V Superman: 12 Movies You Won't Believe Were Better Reviewed

1. Daredevil

20th Century Fox

Score: 44%

There's a good chance that Ben Affleck will be haunted by Daredevil until his last days, despite the fact that it's far from his worst performance. Even though he was personally excellent as Batman, this film will forever be held up as part proof of him "failing" in more than one comic book film.

Like Batman v Superman, Daredevil failed because of its wayward commitment to the wrong tone, its imbalance and its idiotic choices. It had its great moments - the finale was excellent, the violence well-considered and some of the performances - but generally it's just not all that great.

The fact that it is considered an embarrassment for Affleck and get initially scored a good 15% more on Rotten Tomatoes than Batman v Superman says a lot.

Why It Did Better

Daredevil was only horrible in context: it came after Spider-Man and X-Men (and Blade II), and the benchmark was massive. The fact that the film was at best serviceable with moments of greatness made it seem disastrous, when in reality it's actually a better movie than Man Of Steel or Batman v Superman in general.

The Lesson For Warner Bros

Ben Affleck can survive worse superhero movies: don't even consider abandoning him for the stand-alone Batmans.
