Batman V Superman Is Going To Be The Most Expensive Movie Ever Made

Dawn of getting a better accountant.

Warner Bros. need Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice to be a hit. Not because it's setting up their massive DC Extended Universe enterprise or that they've had a series of high profile bombs this year in the form of Jupiter Ascending and Pan (although those are both solid reasons), but because if it's not a mega-smash-super-hit then it'll probably lose money. The latest rumour surrounding the film is that it's cost Warners a whopping $410 million to make. That's not a typo - $410 million. Working on the conventional assumption that marketing doubles that amount, Dawn Of Justice is going to have to make over $800 million just to break even. To put that in context, that's more than the average total of both The Dark Knight Rises and Man Of Steel, the previous outings for Bats and Supes that were both highly anticipated in their own right. This a number so large it's impossible to laugh at (even Bruce Wayne would be taken aback), making the superhero team-up the most expensive movie ever made, trouncing previous record holder Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. How did things get this far? Well, casting Ben Affleck and bunch of other high profile names comes with a cost, but the general size/length of the production is to blame here. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is in cinemas from 25th March 2016. And boy do Warner Bros. want you to see.
